It’s huge… It’s feral…
It’s Joe Manganiello (say that name 5x fast).
You may only know him as Alcide on HBO’s True Blood, aka shirtless and/or in werewolf form. Or you may now know him as the sexy giant blocking the Panera menu.
But what you may not know is that this smokeshow has been working in the theatre for years. After auditioning and being denied to the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama out of high school, Joe applied again after a year at University of Pittsburgh. He was finally accepted, and thank lawd for that, because one of his Carnegie professors actually directed him in a 2008 production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Thus, he’s played the part of Stanley before. Thus, he will probably play the part well here. Thus, he’s sticking around Yale to grace us with his man-presence until Oct.,12.
Through a very transitive property, we owe Carnegie a big T f’in Y. So ty.
Beyond Joe’s general good looks and experience in the theatre, the Yale Repertory Theatre puts on award-winning shows. Award-winning meaning Tony award and Pulitzer Prize-winning (casual), so go see it!
Yale Rep will be showing A Streetcar Named Desire from Sept. 20 to Oct. 12.
And SPOILER ALERT, he may or may not shift into a wolf at the end.
