You read it here first: The Bullblog has caught word that Richter’s, Yale’s collegiest college bar, is making a return to Chapel Street! With construction next to Shake Shack (near the corner of College and Chapel), a notice has been posted in the window of 990 Chapel Street that confirms that the former shell of a campus favorite is being renovated, to allegedly reopen sometime this March. This is a major late night game changer!

Many thought that Richter’s closing in June 2011 marked the end of the long history of the legendary tap room, which began serving beers way back in 1858. Often described as “dark” and “divey”, Richter’s fills the space of a smaller college bar in a late night scene devoid of many options.  With its return to its original location, the reopen would also sustain the renaissance of Chapel Street, which has already experienced the opening of popular chains Shake Shack and Chipotle, and later this year, Panera Bread, which is set to open in the coming months.
