Here at Yale, we don’t call it Spring Break–we call it Spring Recess, and this year it begins at 5:30 p.m. on March 8…just 31 days away!

It’s called recess is because everyday life at Yale is practically indistinguishable from Spring Break life. You can’t go on Spring Break when you’re already on Spring Break 24/7, so we take two weeks off and call it recess.

I mean really, how fun can recess be, when we’ve already got more all-inclusive amenities than we need, right here in New Haven: All-you-can-eat buffets, fitness center access, complementary hot stone massages, some showers, frocos, daiquiris on the beach, The Kids’ Club, Thai food study breaks… The list goes on and on. But don’t take my word for it. Just ask our very own James Franco, whose Yale education, truncated though it may have been, made him the natural casting choice for the lead role in Spring Breakers, the Bullblog’s pick for Weirdest Movie, Perhaps Ever. Spring Breakers will be released on March 22, 2013–the last Friday of Spring Recess. Coincidence? You tell me.
