The worst thing to happen to your productivity since you found this blog has arrived. Every Yale student now has their own personal cable box through their computer now that Tivli, a Harvard start-up, has arrived on campus. Just go to yale.tivli.com and check it out for yourself. As of right now, the pilot program only applies to on-campus residents and will allow students to “watch broadcast and cable TV channels live on your laptop anywhere on campus at no charge.”

There are 30 channels available, ranging from your standard basic cable to Animal Planet HD (currently showing Pitbulls and Parolees!!). For the Mad Men fans out there, Tivli has AMC, making it the only place on-campus for you to watch the April 7 season premiere. You can also watch your sports, your Shahs of Sunset, your NCIS marathons!

The Harvard version of Tivli comes with a beta version of HBO Go and the Director of ITS David Galassi said in December that Yale too would be receiving HBO and HBO GO. While that does not yet seem to be an option, it will hopefully resolve itself before this Sunday’s episode of Girls.

If you are worried about totally wasting all of your time, Book Trader has your back with helpful banner ads that read “Seriously? TV on a school night? Get back to reading!” which is a little bit more than the amount of grief you want your local sandwich place to be giving you. But whatever, Saturday night just got a lot more fun.
