At Yale we don’t need 3-D glasses to attract new applicants

Hobart and William Smith Colleges will be trying out something a little bit different this year to attract new applicants: they’ll be sending their brochure with a set of 3-d glasses.  The first 10,000 students to request a brochure (by email or text!) will get a pair along with the brochure.  Their director of communications, Cathy Williams has said, “At first we thought, is it too retro?  Then we thought, more than just a gimmick — although, I admit, it is a really good gimmick — it really is a metaphor for our educational experience here.”

Of course we all know that at The Yale University we are so far beyond gimmicky, campy, over-the-top admissions ploys.  Oh wait…
