Breaking: New Branford Dean Announced

By 30 April 2010 One Comment

At noon this morning Dean Mary Miller announced Branford’s new Dean will be Hilary Fink. Fink will be replacing Dean Tauss, who announced his departure to Branford students in November.  Dean Tauss went to Yale as an undergrad and was a member of Branford college where he “worked in the buttery, helped organize talent shows and movie nights, managed the printing press, ran the big sib program, and served as a freshman counselor.”

We have said it before, and you will hear it again – you are truly in the greatest residential college in the greatest university in the world.  Savor your time here, and make it something meaningful for you as you reluctantly depart from this place.  I know it will be for me. –Daniel Tauss

Hilary Fink has taught in Yale’s department of Slavic languages and literature since 1986 and has been an academic advisor to Branford. She was an academic all-American basketball player at Smith College. She also has three adorable girls—probably the cutest babies of any Dean (Rachel, 9, Tessa, 5, and Sophie, 3).

A sign of things to come? In Master Smith’s announcement of the new Dean, Master Smith described Hilary as “a passionate lover”.  He finished with “of literature”, but not soon enough to mask the giggles of Branford students.
