Bullblog tip-off: careers in grilled cheese!

By 12 February 2010 2 Comments

While the UCS Emails are mostly filled with self-promoting reminders about Bulldogs Across America opportunities, once in a while something actually interesting pops up. And for the graduating class of 2010, that special career opportunity is “Grilled Cheese To Go“, a new start-up from an SOM grad. A quick peek at the online menu has given me so many ideas for improvement/growth that I should probably just apply myself (alas, just one year too young…), but I’ll share them with you ’cause I’m nice like that. Feel free to include these tips in a sweet cover letter!

1. Be more like Caseus. I get that Grilled Cheese To Go is fast-food, but we need to move beyond only serving American cheese, cheddar, and light Swiss. Also, they could take some inspiration from Caseus’ “jambon de paris” and get experimental with fillings. For starters, I’m thinking combinations like pepperoni/mozzarella, figs/goat cheese, and blue cheese/avocado.

2. Do away with the potato chips/large cookie “Snacks” option. This isn’t Subway, it’s Grilled Cheese To Go. Get behind the First Lady – potato chips are on their way out.

3. I’ve run out of suggestions. They’re offering “competitive pay” and “health-benefits.” Apply fast before some i-banking reject gets your spot!

  • Gabrielle – thanks for the comments, and the thoughts…although I will have to say, unless you’ve tried a Classic with fresh Italian bread and creamy white American cheese with ripe tomatoes and freshly chopped basil, I’d hold your thoughts on needing to go gourmet. Sometimes simplicity goes a very long way! And, after trying our product and seeing the store, let’s chat about some consulting work I have for you…that is of course, if you don’t get that i-banking job! :)

    Much love and friendly banter,
Michael, The Grilled Cheese To Go Guy

  • I most definitely will take the job — I love grilled cheese in all forms!
