Full disclosure: I’m the assistant choreographer for the Dramat’s Fall Mainstage production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s Carousel.
That being said, the show is actually fantastic — and I happen to know that because I’ve seen it already once or twice. Produced by John Wolff, directed by Rick Joyce, and choreographed by Tracy Bersley, Carousel tells the tale of young love gone wrong, plus a carnival! Starring Brian Earp, Danielle Frimer, Jay Frisby, and Mallory Baysek, backed by a really talented ensemble that includes former Bullblog Crush of the Week Brandon Levin. Tickets are $5 for students and $13 for adults and can be purchased here. Carousel opens at the University Theater (222 York St.) Wednesday at 8PM, with additional shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, all at 8 PM, and a 2PM matinee on Friday. I saw it Saturday & it was wonderful! All the cast were great, loved the set(a dock by the bay), & the orchestra was so good! I wish I had been able to see it a second time. I think I was one of the few nonstudents at the show:people should know what their missing! ps. Congratulations on the wonderful choreography. I especially loved the opening sequence.
