Bullblog tip-off: Freaky Gays at B&N

By 3 November 2009 One Comment

Not that there aren’t usually more than a few freaky gays at the Yale bookstore.  But this week boasts a couple of author events that can hardly be coincidence.

First, tomorrow at six, Christopher Bram – author of Father of Frankenstein – is doing a reading/signing.  In case you didn’t know, Father of Frankenstein was adapted into the movie Gods and Monsters.  (I won’t burden my readers with it here, but if you’d like a 1000+ word rant on how Ian McKellen was robbed at the Oscars by an Italian clown, shoot me an e-mail.)

Then, on thursday at 5:30, Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked, is doing the same.

Here’s how to handle this situation:

  1. If you haven’t seen Gods and Monsters, skip both events, rent it, and watch it.
  2. If you’ve seen the movie, join me at Bram’s event tomorrow.
  3. Only if you’ve seen the movie and intend to go to Bram’s event will it be acceptable for you to go to Maguire’s.

  • In the real death camps there would be no role for Guido. But Life Is Beautiful is not about Nazis and Fascists, but about the human spirit.
