Do we really need gtrot? REALLY?
In the past, we’ve received some flack for questioning other people’s projects (I heard a rumor that gtrot is the brainchild of Yale alums, but I’m honestly not sure). But when they’re so insistently marketed, as gtrot is, I say they’re kind of asking for it.
So here’s my question: Do we really need more ways to find out information about people who are only sort of our friends? It seems to me, despite some of the semi-legitimate uses the site advertises (find people to share cabs with!), that the main point of this site is simply to be able to ask “So, how were the Bahamas?” instead of “Where were you over break?” Personally, I’m still on the “this is creepy” boat.
There is, however, a useful service you can submit your travel plans to: the Bullblog’s SBX planz contest!

Hi Gabe,
Thanks for your interest in Gtrot.com. We’re working to make travel tools that make trip sharing even easier. I’d love to hear your feedback on how you think we can improve and whether or not you find our tools useful. Send me a note at brittany [at] gtrot [.] com.
Thanks & Happy Travels!

I completely agree. What purpose does this really serve? More to the point, how is gtrot going to make anybody any money?
