Dramat picks Rent for Fall Mainstage

By 18 February 2010 8 Comments

The Bullblog has just learned from an unidentified tipster that the Dramat, apparently in a “Party Like Its 1999″ mood, has chosen Rent for its marquee Fall 2010 Mainstage Production. Who wants to bet that the fact that Dramat diva Matt McCollum‘s uncle Jonathan Larson wrote the play had something to do with the choice? Regardless, the Bullblog is predicting this will be the spectacle of the decade. In case you somehow missed the entire phenomenon, here’s a clip from the reunion of the original cast at the 2008 Tony’s:

UPDATE: Looks like the Dramat is still looking for a director for the show—and is willing to pay $4000! Let’s hope all that cash helps prevent another Full Monty debacle… for comparison’s sake, the Dramat allocates $2000 for the entire budget of student-directed “Experimental” shows (like the highly-avante-garde Importance of Being Earnest), and most Sudler funded plays cost less than $1000.
