Drink of the week featuring Yale-themed liquor.
One of this year’s sponsors was a new gin called Bulldog Gin. A week ago I found it at Broadway Liquor, but when I asked the owner about it he said it was just a gimmick for Yale kids and that it was horrible. I trusted him and went with Gordon’s (his choice) and spent the rest of the night in a sloshy stupor with a headache that lasted until the next evening.
The Bulldog Gin representatives at Harriman were mixing a simple cocktail of 1 part Gin, 3 parts lemonade that they called “London Lemonade” and was absolutely delicious. I decided to alter the recipe a bit, but still try to make something that college kids could do in the confines of a dormroom and came up with this:
1 1/2 ounces Bulldog Gin
2 1/2 ounces Lemonade (I prefer fizzy, but it’s up to you)
1 large dining hall spoon full of Elderflower cordial (you can get it at Ikea!)
Mix the ingredients together in a “glass” and add ice, mints sprigs and squeezes of lemon or lime. This drink can really be played around with if you have the means to get your hands on some grenadine, bitters, or triple sec. You can also try adding a few drops of Tabasco in place of elderflower for a spicier version
I hope they come out with a Bulldawg liquor for Georgia fans soon!

Hi Miranda,
I’m the Director of Corporate Development at BULLDOG Gin – which is an ultra-premium gin handcrafted in London and received the highest rating ever given to a gin by Wine Enthusiast (also a Top 50 Spirit in 2008).
I’m sorry about your experience at Broadway Liquor (thank you for calling our attention to it), but am delighted that you rediscovered BULLDOG at the Harriman Cup.
If you would kindly reach out to me directly at the email I submitted, I’d be happy to send you a press kit with some more information about our brand – it was most recently featured in Bloomberg Markets as a gin of choice.
Thanks again for your support – I really enjoyed reading this article.
Cheers,
Debby
