When Grace Oberhofer got waitlisted from the axis of evil instead of accepting her fate and moving on, she decided to make a youtube video to try to convince Harvard to let her in. Call it the opposite That’s Why I Chose Yale effect.

The video falls in the strange netherland of things that are both earnest and ironic. She has a good voice and it is occasionally well written, but next thing you know anyone who gets waitlisted is going to be making viral videos trying to convince the admissions office to admit them. Of course, no matter where this girl ends up going to school she’ll always be known as “that girl with the waitlist video”.
