God, I hate freshmen
With regards to the monumental decision between Yale, Columbia, and Brown, E-Dub blogs that she’s “finally arrived at Brown University and, while I wish I could be in three places at once, I wouldn’t believe everything you read!” Then she gushes over how many “incredible people” she’s already met, and how she’s having “the most amazing time.” And classes haven’t even started yet! Gosh!
Emma: One day, February will be upon you. You won’t remember how the sun shined during those first days of September, and you won’t remember how your body used to feel, before you started drinking grain. You will realize that those “incredible people” who undoubtedly took a gap year to travel the world and whose perspectives on life were just, like, totally changed will never, ever stop talking about those gap years. And you will cycle through literature, psychology, English, detour in Women’s Studies, and then spend hours explaining that what you major in doesn’t really matter, because a liberal arts education teaches you how to think critically, which transcends all majors. And then, lo and behold, you will remember that you are a movie star! and you will leave campus in that helicopter you claim to not have arrived in.
