If you haven’t been to Thali Too apart from the Berkeley Screw, it is time for you to wake up and smell the lassi. I’d been there many times for dinner, and it’s always been very solid—but I just got brunch there and was blown away. For $15, they give you as many a la carte fried goods as you want, along with a free drink. The best item I tasted (and I tasted almost all of them) was the classic Samosa Chaat, but there were many strong contenders. It’s no Bella’s, but for downtown New Haven, it’s pretty much as good as you’re going to do.
