No h8ing on Yale!

Everybody at Yale knows that Yale loves the gays, and is probably a moral cesspool. And it even seems as though our reputation precedes us. Since I have nothing better to do midday on a beautiful Saturday, I was diligently making my way through a transcript of Prof. George Chauncey’s testimony at the Prop 8 hearings in California (that’s why he hasn’t been showing up to class!), and ran across this delightful gibe by a lawyer from the defense:
T[hompson, attorney for the defense]: Your training was at Yale all the way to PhD and now you teach there. You are now astonished at how Yale has changed in its acceptance of GLBT students and faculty, yes
C[hauncey]: Yes
T: Even when supported by Nancy Cott as a grad student, you found opposotion to your thesis at Yale, right?
C: Yes
T: Dramatic changes everywhere, not just Yale?
C: But Yale is not representative of the US
T: Thank goodness for that!
How mean! Although I guess if the whole country were “representative” of Yale then our population numbers would be in serious trouble.
