Shaw’s to become obsolete

The YDN reports that 360 State, the luxe apartment building going up three blocks from campus, will include a grocery story in its ground floor. It is said to be “of comparable quality and service to that of Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s,” though it will definitely not be either of those. A Bullblog guest analyst suggests it could be an Edge of the Woods 2—New Haven establishments love to spin off sequels! Off-campusers, Swing Spacers and College Kitchen abusers, this means the days of sketchy walks to Shaw’s for Goya pinto beans and corn tortillas are about to come to an end. Which also, of course, means that you will no longer be able to rationalize that Butterfingers you buy in the check out line by thinking of all the calories you will burn on your walk home.
