The Daily Beast analyzed the crime rates (burglary, arson, motor vehicle theft, rape, murder, etc etc etc) of over 4,000 universities in America, and — surprise, surprise — Harvard and Yale came out on top. Harvard edges out Yale at #20 overall, but apparently tops the list when it comes acquaintance rape. Yale’s off-campus situation lands us at #23, with 20 robberies in 2006 and 9 in 2007. The big surprises, however, are Brown and MIT, which ranked #18 and #5, respectively. Thank God for MIT’s Crime Club, which the Daily Beast reports as maintaining an up-to-date police log on criminal activity, but which I’m sure is more or less devoted to engineering replicas of the Batman suit and restaging epic battle scenes from the Episode I: Phantom Menace.
